The largest surviving example in the world, it is the only known Bull Engine which will return to steam in it's original location
"

Welcome to the website of the Bull Engine Restoration Project - the project to restore to working condition the 1856 Harvey & Co. 70" Bull Engine at Kew Bridge Steam Museum.

The project was formally launched to the public on Saturday 30th September 2000, at the Kew Bridge Steam Museum. Since then much work has been done to restore the engine to full steaming condition and the restoration is now nearing completion, with the engine due to steam for the first time in preservation in 2007.

The picture to the right is an engraving of a Bull Engine installed at Hampton Waterworks. While not exactly the same as the engine at Kew Bridge Steam Museum, it is known that the two engines installed at Hampton and the engine at Kew Bridge were built by Harvey's as a batch and were sequential in number. It is also highly likely that the Grand Junction Waterworks Company ordered all three engines at the same time.

The Bull Engine Restoration Project is being operated on behalf of the Kew Bridge Engines Trust by volunteers of the Kew Bridge Steam Museum.
